Network Services Development Internship

Channel:

Reporting to: Technical Director

Location: High Wycombe

Salary: £400 per week

Role: We are looking for at least one current undergraduate to undertake a summer 2018 internship developing services and products for activereach in a variety of areas related to IP based networking, networking security, and cloud security.

Some projects have already been started as part of previous intern work, and others will be at the concept stage and require the intern to undertake research and development to design and create the product or service, taking into account business and customer requirements. We will expect the intern to become involved in the roll-out strategy in conjunction with members of the technical team and the commercial and sales departments of activereach.

Current projects are in the area of network monitoring, security monitoring, cloud computing environments, and cloud security.

This internship position requires excellent written English with an ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and read technical documentation. You will need to regularly converse with all internal departments to complete your work. Whilst this is not a programming role per se, you might be expected to dive into code to resolve or understand issues to reach the goal. You are therefore likely to be in a scientific or mathematically based discipline.

You will need to show that you have the ability to self-start and find solutions to the problems you come across, and adopt a rigorous, analytical approach to your work.

We believe this is an excellent opportunity for a suitable person to learn about the challenges and rewards of working across the business in a technically focused company with a mature start-up mentality. We are friendly, and want you to succeed.

This role will report to the Technical Director and is based in our High Wycombe office.
We expect the intern to undertake at least 8 weeks of work, which leaves you time to enjoy the rest of the summer.

What our customers say

As a premium holiday supplier, we absolutely depend on reliable and speedy communication to our clients and partners overseas. We were recommended to ask activereach about improving the bandwidth to our head office, and right from the start they showed that they cared about the level of service they provided to my company. They installed EFM and were able to reuse my existing equipment, liaising with third parties to make sure that everyone was kept in the loop.

The difference in access has been remarkable with frankly little change to my IT budget.

Brian Barton
Managing Director, The Turquoise Holiday Company
